Our Strengths
- Consultancies
In response to an individual school's request, the SMILE Project will design and deliver a tailor-made consultancy on vairous aspects of English language education catering for the needs of the teachers and the students in that school. - School Support
From time to time, schools may find that they need professional support for their English teachers in certain areas of English teaching. The SMILE Project can provide such support to schools with its own internal resources or in collaboration with external English experts. - Educational Research
Other than professional development for English teachers, the SMILE Project can also support schools by conducting educational research as part of a consultancy project or as an independent task as required or requested by individual schools. From research design, conducting fieldwork to report writing-up, the research team of the SMILE Project can organize and manage research projects to a high professional standard. - Assessment for Writing
As the sister unit of the Writing for Integrated Teacher Education (WrITE) Project, the first National Writing Project (NWP) international associated site, the SMILE Project can leverage the WrITE Project's ample experience in conducting workshops and seminars on the NWP model of assessment for writing.
Furthermore, through close ties with the NWP, NWP renowned scholars can be invited to share their knowledge and experience concerning assessment for writing in Hong Kong. - Networking and Collaboration
The SMILE Project has been developing a network of English language experts from local and / or overseas organisations. As opportunities arise, the SMILE Project will collaborate with these experts to bring English enhancement projects concerned to fruition.
