Introduction
- In 2006, the Education Bureau introduced the English Enhancement Scheme (EES) for CMI schools (using Chinese as the medium of instruction) to further enhance the learning and teaching of English through strategic planning and implementation of holistic school-based plans for capacity building. The objective was to ensure that students in CMI schools would also be proficient in English while learning non-language subjects through the mother tongue.
- CEELT was then commissioned by 4 secondary schools to provide professional consultancy on their school-based EES projects (3 schools for a period of 6 years while one for 3 years). In addition, CEELT was also engaged in some other schools’ EES projects but in a smaller scale.
